Oliver– Exercise Prescription
11/03/24
Oliver is a young horse who is looking to do all round activities. He is
in good body condition but could use some added topline and strength to
support his ridden work.
Gait assessment – Straight moving limbs and travel on 2 tracks. Right
forelimb is toe out and lands laterally. Both hindlimbs are toe out and
loose shoe right hind. Rocks back onto heels and shows very low heels.
Tracks up well. Turns are good with good foot flight, placement and
timing. Neck and back look good through turn.
Palpation – Tension around base of brachiocephalic muscles, muscle tear
splenius RHS mid neck. Lacking topline in neck. Good shoulder
musculature, overdeveloped chest. Clewan limbs and good joint range of
motion. Enjoyed forelimb protraction. Spasming and tension lower back
lumbar region. Used K-tape. Camped under behind and struggles to stand
square.
