Buddy was see following TPLO surgery. He is standing on all 4 limbs and
able to sit, lie and walk unaided. The left hindlimb has minimal

There was muscle reactivity around the thoraco-lumbar junction and
around the caudal scapula area both sides into lat. Dorsi. Crepitus felt
on full flexion left stifle. Sartorius was reactive and painful on
palpation on the left and hamstrings on the right restrictive of
protraction.
Gait: Left hind medially placed and weak on biceps femoris. Tarsal
valgus and toe out left hind. Good rhythm of the walk, minimal scuffing,
minor rhythm changes on the turn.
Sitting: Straight sit posture, on rising still weight-shifts right and
moves toes.
Exercises
1. Sit to stand- First, get buddy into a good sit posture, this means
all 4 feet are facing forwards with no legs splayed to the sides.
Then lower your treat hand infront and down to encourage buddy to
stand slowly. As he stands, his back feet should stay still, moving
of these back feet indicates a dis-engagement of the hindlimb
muscles
Repeat 10x once or twice a day

2. Over the legs – With your legs outstretched on the floor, have Buddy
walk over the legs 10x. The key to this exercise os to make sure
Buddy uses his right and left legsto step over, if he just uses one,
adjust your spacing. This will encourage movement of his joints and
increase his balance from left to right.
