Tasha – Exercise Prescription
29/2/24
Tasha was seen 29/02/24 for her initial session where by she had a recent CrCr
surgery to her right hindlimb. Tasha has improved in her lameness score and is
1/5 lame on her left forelimb and right hindlimb.
Sit posture shows a laterally placed right hindlimb – markedly improved since
last session with 70% correct and straight. We are now looking to work on her
rising from the sit to the stand, pushing off both hindlimbs.
Tashas back pain is also reduced, there are still some areas of discomfort
especially around her areas of spondylosis, but this is positive.
Points Discussed
Calendar –Keep up with the calendar, remember to be home by the time any
scuffing of toes appears as this indicates fatigue.
Food – Keep weighing out Tashas food ration, remember to add in allowance
for her treats to enable you to do the exercises. Excessive weight will overload
her joints and reduce her ability to move freely.
Kerbs – Use kerbs to watch for hindlegs stepping up and onto the kerb, is it the
same foot each time ? does the natural rhythm of the walk change (get too fast
or too slow?). Aim for 10x up and down kerbs.
