Thomas – Exercise Prescription
02/1/24
Thomas was seen following a fall with his rider in which he sustained superficial grazing and some
swelling to his left hand side. Advised 2 weeks of in-hand, lunging or rest to allow for swelling to
subside.
In walk Thomas moved on 3 tracks with intermittent lateral and medial placement of the left
hindlimb. Minor pelvic asymmetry was seen indicating the left hind was his weaker limb. The left
forelimb landed on the lateral hoof wall which may be due to tension on the left triceps and
serratus muscles holding the limb to the body – this tension was not seen today and so may
require expert advise from the farrier.
The thoracic sling was low and the pectorals take alot of strain and place the spine into extension.
Leading to weaker topline and less engagement from the hindlimbs.
Swelling and tenderness on left rib heads T14-18 and into lumbar region. Spinal range of motion
still resented but improved from last session.
